a local import company has started to import used subaru's from japan 4 wd right hand drives any one know anything about them? he is trying to sell to farmers to replace quads and they can go from field to street also bringing in suzukis the subaru's are rear engined 4 cylinders the suzuki's are under the seat fron engines 3 cylinders

Not true... At least not legally. Cars imported from Japan are not legal on us roads. Some cars that are over 25 years old are allowed to be imported, but the rules in Japan dictate that cars are scrapped after 10 years.



Cars imported from Japan are CUT IN HALF. This is called a half cut and it's the only way you can buy a Japanese car in the US.

The Subaru is most likely a Sambar, which is in a class of Asian market cars called kei cars. They are designed to take advantage of loop holes in insurance and local regulations concerning the size and safety of cars. They are restricted to no more than a 660 cc engine producing no more than 63 HP, and cannot exceed 3.4 m in length or 1.48 m in height. The Sambar is produced jointly with Elcat motors and is manufactured in Japan, Korea, China, and Finland.

If you are in US market, the subaru pick up is call Baja.



In the international market, the subaru pick up is call Sambar.
